VSOF SCHOLARSHIPS

Violet Solomon Oaklander Foundation scholarships aim to fulfill one of our key goals: to make it possible for mental health professionals around the world to learn and implement the Oaklander Model of working with children and adolescents. We provide financial assistance to students eager to learn about the Oaklander Model, but unable to afford full fee trainings. We also send Oaklander Model trainers worldwide to countries that desire to host a training but do not have the resources to make it happen without our support.

Scholarships made it possible for many students from around the world to study and learn the Oaklander Model and use it in their home countries. Students from 30 countries, including South Africa, the Republic of Georgia, Mexico, Canada, Colombia, the Czech Republic, and Romania, as well as from across the U.S., have received scholarship funds. A VSOF scholarship made it possible for one of our trainers to travel to Kyrgyzstan, bringing the Oaklander Model to nearly 40 students in a country in great need of child therapy and related services, and leading to a second training in that nation. Another VSOF scholarship facilitated a training in Lithuania, further spreading the Oaklander Model to more health professionals eager to learn and implement the Model.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, these funds were particularly useful for many students around the globe who attended trainings and the VSOF conference virtually.

The VSOF Scholarship program is funded with proceeds from the bi-annual VSOF Conference and wonderful donors. The Salter Family Foundation is one generous donor that has pledged its annual support to our Scholarship Fund.
