The Violet Solomon Oaklander Foundation Scholarship Fund
ABOUT THE VSOF SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Violet Solomon Oaklander Foundation Scholarship Fund aims to fulfill one of the key goals of VSOF: to make it possible for more mental health professionals around the world to learn and implement the Oaklander Model of working with children and adolescents. The Fund aims to do this in two ways: To provide financial assistance to students eager to learn about the Oaklander Model, but unable to afford full fee trainings, and by bringing trainers in the Oaklander Model to places that desire to host a training but do not have the resources to make it happen. 100 percent of all donations go directly to scholarships.
The VSOF Scholarship program is funded by interested and supportive individuals, by proceeds from the bi-annual VSOF Conference, and by grants from foundations. The first such grant has been from the Salter Family Foundation, which has pledged its annual support to our Scholarship Fund and for which we are extremely grateful.
The Fund has made it possible for a number of students from around the world to study and learn the Oaklander Model and use it in their home countries. Students from South Africa, the Republic of Georgia, Mexico, Canada, Colombia, the Czech Republic, and Romania, as well as from across the U.S., have been assisted by the Fund. A VSOF scholarship made it possible for one of our trainers to travel to Kyrgyzstan, bringing the Oaklander Model to nearly 40 students in a country in great need of child therapy and related services, and leading to a second training in that nation. Another VSOF scholarship facilitated a training in Lithuania, further spreading the Oaklander Model to more health professionals eager to learn and implement the Model.
The VSOF Scholarship Fund aims to build on this success by capitalizing on future opportunities to send trainers to places that urgently need them and by helping students attend trainings. Your tax-deductible contribution of any amount can help make this possible!
HOW TO APPLY FOR A SCHOLARSHIP TO ATTEND TRAINING
The VSOF Scholarship Committee will review all scholarship applications and trainers’ proposals and is always open for suggestions regarding how the fund can be used to help those in need.
Assistance to applicants seeking a scholarship to attend a training is typically granted to cover tuition or entrance fees for training only.
Mission Statement of the VSOF
The Mission of the Foundation is to preserve, support and widely disseminate Dr. Oaklander’s Gestalt-based therapeutic work with children, adolescents and adults.
